Installation Sequence

Five steps.
Zero shortcuts.

This sequence is why a Slab installation outlasts the cabinet below it. Each section shows you what good looks like — so you can spot what bad looks like.

Digital Arm Templating

The measurement that makes everything else possible.

A digital templating arm traces every cabinet edge, backsplash reveal, and appliance cutout to within 1/16″. We capture the actual substrate, not a tape-measure approximation. The resulting file drives the CNC bridge saw — no transcription errors, no rounding.

What to look for

What to watch for: A crew that skips digital templating and uses paper templates is working at ±1/4″ accuracy. That gap shows at every inside corner and sink cutout.

Diamond-Blade Wet Saw

Water, diamond, and a file that knows exactly where to cut.

The CNC bridge saw runs the digital template file directly. Continuous water cooling prevents thermal micro-fractures at the cut edge. Polishing wheels step from 50 to 3,000 grit — a honed finish, not a buffed-over rough cut.

What to look for

What to watch for: Dry cutting generates heat that causes invisible stress fractures along the slab edge. They show up as chips six months after install.

Pre-Set Test Placement

Every seam checked before a drop of adhesive touches stone.

Cut pieces go back on the substrate dry — shimmed to final height — before any adhesive is mixed. We confirm seam gaps, overhang consistency, and sink reveal at this stage. Adjustments are grinding corrections, not re-orders.

What to look for

What to watch for: If your installer skips the dry-fit, they're betting on the template and cut being perfect. Our 97% first-fit rate is built on this step, not luck.

Epoxy Bond & Seam Fill

The chemistry that holds it for eleven years.

Two-part epoxy matched to the stone's base color is troweled onto cleaned, primed substrate. Pieces are set to layout lines, weighted and clamped at seams. Epoxy squeeze-out is scraped while still green — not ground off after cure, which opens micro-voids.

What to look for

What to watch for: Silicone-only adhesive under stone fails in 3–5 years. Ask your installer what adhesive they're using and whether the substrate is primed.

Penetrating Impregnator

The last step most crews rush. We don't.

A fluorocarbon impregnator is applied in two cross-direction passes, buffed to zero surface residue. It penetrates 3–5mm into the stone matrix — not a surface film — and carries the 11-year warranty. We leave a dated application card in the cabinet below.

What to look for

What to watch for: Surface sealers peel. Penetrating impregnators don't. If your installer can't name the sealer brand and coverage rate, the warranty is a handshake.
